Photo by (c)Patrick Sun Okay so here is a pic of my good friend (alias) Elendriel Alastair and her Loki cosplay holding the staff I made. While comments are now pouring in as we've FINALLY got a good view of the real staff(s all 3 of them) I spoke with her and we'll be starting a more accurate model sculpted and resin cast. Just an FYI I will not be selling any between now and Dragon*Con just because my Dragon*con is very very busy already. Thank you everyone for the kind comments of excitement and appreciation :) Add Comment Work has been really really busy the past couple of weeks. All of my down time has been spent sleeping and catching up family things. I decided to spend some time tonight updating my website and making this blog entry to keep me honest with my goals. Top priority - Building a Loki staff from the new Avenger's movie. This was a commission by a close friend and I've been bouncing the project through my head for the past month. Usually by now I've come up with a great plan on how to fabricate it based on her requirements. It needs to be portable to pack up for plane trips and durable enough to survive those trips. This could prove tricky. I've thought about carving the S curve out of wood and giving it threaded rod inside to assemble. Guess I'm gonna just need to attempt a few prototypes and see how it goes. I determined the best thing to use for the gem in the staff would be a quartz egg. After scouring the internet for a suitable egg none were in the rough size I needed so I found a nice lady on ebay who normally sells crystals and stones of all various sizes. Turned out it was an odd size but she would go shopping for me the next week and report back with my request. She ended up finding this perfect stone for the prop! So the next step is to start cutting wood and creating a mount for this "gem" I'll keep updating the project here! | Daniel Valdez
